Éomer was the nephew of king Théoden in the Third Age. He witnessed his King become corrupted by Saruman the White which led to death of Prince Théodred and Éomer's banishment. After Éomer and his group of riders left Edoras, they slaughtered an encampment of Uruk-hai and Orcs. The following morning, they encountered Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas on the road, looking for the Orcs, the trio claiming that two Hobbit prisoners had been amongst them. After his uncle was restored to sanity by Gandalf the White, Éomer was tracked down by the wizard, who led his cavalry to aid Théoden in the Battle of Helm's Deep. Éomer later helped lead the Rohirrim into battle during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields which saw the death of his uncle, Théoden. He would help lead the Free Peoples of Middle-earth as one of the Captains of the West during the Battle of the Black Gate and witnessed Sauron's final defeat. Following the War of the Ring, Éomer would become King of Rohan in his uncle's stead.
