Erebor had a strong well armored and equipped Dwarven army able to defeat even the toughest foes.
History[]
The army was founded under the original King under the Mountain, Thráin I, in TA 1999.[1] Over the years as the kingdom began to grow in wealth, mining gems and minerals of great worth from the mountain, an armory was established, full of weapons and armor made of all different types of metals and gems.[2] The regal sets of armor belonged to many Dwarf Kings, Princes and Lords who served in the army over the years.[3] When Smaug attacked Erebor, the surviving Dwarves were scattered across Middle-earth and the army was disbanded. Most of Durin's folk came together for the Battle of Azanulbizar, including forces from Erebor.[4]
Reformation[]
After the Company of Thorin Oakenshield successfully took back the Lonely Mountain in TA 2941, many Dwarves returned to Erebor and Dáin Ironfoot became King under the Mountain. The Army was reformed under him and fought against the Easterlings during the Battle of Dale in the War of the Ring.
