Athelas, also known as Kingsfoil, was a plant in Middle-earth. Many considered it a weed but to some, notably to some Dwarves and Elves, it can be used to heal poison-related wounds.
History[]
During the Quest for Erebor, Kíli the Dwarf was shot by a Mordor-shaft which caused a poisonous injury. Tauriel the Elf used Kingsfoil to heal his wound in Lake-town.[1]
During the War of the Ring, Frodo Baggins was stabbed by a Morgul-blade, this wound would never fully heal but Aragorn used the Kingsfoil to help with the pain the Hobbit was experiencing.[2]
