The Cave Troll of Moria

Cave Troll's were a subspecies of Troll, that lived in caves throughout the Misty Mountains.

History

Cave troll's were known to fight in the Battle of Five Armies. One lived in Moria and fought the fellowship in Balin's tomb, almost killing Frodo Baggins before finally being killed by Legolas.

Behind the Scenes

Multiple sources have alleged to Cave Trolls being at the Battle of Five Armies. At least one Troll was designed as a homage to the original Troll from Moria for The Battle of the Five Armies but it is currently unknown which Troll this is or whether it even made it to the final movie. While it is currently confirmed that Cave Trolls took part in the battle, there is no confirmation as to which Trolls they are on screen or if they even appear at all.
