Celeborn was a Elf Lord. He was wedded to Lady Galadriel, and was the Lord of Lothlórien.
History[]
Hosting the Fellowship[]
"Tell me where is Gandalf? For I much desire to speak with him. I can no longer see him from afar" - Celeborn
Celeborn and Galadriel proivded shelter to the fellowship after they escaped from Moria. There, Celeborn asked what had become of Gandalf, and he was shocked to learn of the wizard's fall while fighting with Durin's Bane. Celeborn believed hope was lost without Gandalf, but Galadriel felt there was still hope while the company was still formed. When the Fellowship departed, Celeborn was present while Galadriel brought gifts to the Fellowship. Celeborn advised that their Elvish cloaks would help shield them from unfriendly eyes.[1]
The Elf Lord counselled Aragorn about the road ahead, warning him about the Uruk-hai that had somehow tracked the Fellowship under the light of day. He then gifted Aragorn with an Elvish dagger and advised him to lead the fellowship towards the Falls of Rauros.[1]
After Sauron's defeat, Celeborn was last seen at the port city of Mithlond. While there, Celeborn and Galadriel bid farewell to Middle-earth and sailed to the Undying Lands.[2]
Behind the Scenes[]
In The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Chronicles: Art & Design, WETA designer Daniel Falconer describes an alternate version of the Battle of Dol Guldur as shown in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in which Celeborn is present in platinum armor with a troop of Elf soldiers. Peter Jackson ultimately decided that the battle was meant to stand out in comparison to large infantry battles and showcase a more intimate skirmish.[3]
