Elros was one of king Thranduil's chief guards. He drank wine with Galion and allowed the Dwarves to escape.
History[]
Elros served under King Thranduil as a dungeon guard and the Master of the Keys. When the Company of Thorin Oakenshield was captured by the Elves they were put in the Mirkwood Dungeons of the Woodland realm. Believing the Dwarves couldn't get out, Elros and Galion got drunk and Bilbo Baggins was able to steal the keys easily and free the Dwarves.
Bilbo led them to the cellars where Elros and Galion were drunk and asleep and told the Dwarves to get into the barrels before pulling the lever and sending them into the water below to escape. Tauriel led the guards into the room, asking where the keeper of the keys was and saw the trapdoor close as Bilbo escaped himself.
Behind the Scenes[]
This is not Elros from the books which is Elrond's brother. Elros was played by Robin Kerr in the Hobbit movies.
