Freca was a Dunlending leader in league with Saruman, Sauron's chief vassal, in the late Third Age. An enemy of the King of Rohan, Freca sought to strike at Théoden for the Rohirrim's perceived injustices against the Men of Dunland. Approached by Saruman, Freca was welcomed in Isengard and offered back the ancestral lands in Rohan. Persuaded by this promising alliance with the corrupted Wizard, the wild man leader pledged his people to the Dark Lord's cause.
History[]
Leader of Dunland,[1] Freca[2] thirsted for vengeance against the Rohirrim, holding them responsible for the loss of the Dunlendings' ancestral lands and their banishment.[3]
Being thus an enemy of Théoden, Freca was welcomed with open arms by Sauron's chief vassal, Saruman, who granted him an audience in Orthanc at Isengard. Eager for revenge, the wild man leader declared that he would fight for the corrupted Wizard and proceeded to cut his hand, making it bleed, as proof of his undivided commitment. Having pledged Dunland's arms to the union of Mordor and Isengard, Freca's Dunlending hordes joined Isengard Orc raiding parties in wreaking havoc in the Westfold of Rohan, slaying the defenseless Rohirrim peasants who opposed Sauron and Saruman. Trivia[]
