Return to Mordor[]
After being banished to Mordor, Sauron is shown to be building his forces in Mordor and retaking the lands from the men of Gondor and surrounding areas. He uses Uruks to take human slaves and rebuild his kingdom.
The New Ring[]
Sauron began engaging in necromancer-type rituals to try and revive the long gone spirit of the elf-lord Celebrimbor. He had his men, led by the Black Hand of Sauron, the Tower of Sauron and the Hammer of Sauron, invade the Black Gate and take back all of Mordor. Gondor had men posted at the gate and they were all slaughtered save the ranger Talion who was sacrificed in the ritual to call upon Celebrimbor. Talion was merged with Celebrimbor and they both vowed to exact their revenge on Sauron and the Black Hand of Sauron. Eventually after a long conflict, Talion and Celebrimbor confronted and fought Sauron. Celebrimbor helped Talion forge a New Ring separate from the dark lords manipulation.
Fall of Minas Ithil[]
Minas Ithil was attacked by Sauron's forces in order to get the Palantir in the city. Talion and Celebrimbor helped defend the city but it was ultimately lost and eventually fell to the darkness of Mordor, being renamed Minas Morgul. Talion was abandoned by Celebrimbor, who joined with the elf lady Eltariel and they attempted to defeat Sauron. Sauron faced them in the guise of Annatar and his normal form and eventually cut the New Ring from Eltariel's hand ultimately joined with Celebrimbor, becoming the great eye that stood above the tower in Mordor, Sauron's physical form finally gone for good. Talion, abandoned by Celebrimbor, used the wraith ring of Isildur to keep himself alive and defended Minas Morgul and the Palantir for a good while until he bent to the power of the corrupt ring and became a wraith himself. Eventually Sauron would have enough power to manifest a physical body again.
