Behind the Scenes[]
This book was released before the Hobbit Trilogy and therefore contradicts it by mentioning that Dáin Ironfoot killed Azog during the Battle of Azanulbizar which is true to Tolkien's works but was retconned in the film universe in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey so that Azog survives. It also claims Thrór was killed prior to the battle although the Hobbit films show Azog behead the Dwarf king during the battle.
