The Master's barge was a fancy barge owned by the Master of Lake-town. When Smaug attacked the city on the lake, the Master tried to escape with a multitude of his gold and treasures. When the boat wasn't going fast enough, the Master decided to push his second in command Alfrid off into the water in order to save the gold. When Bard shot and killed Smaug with a Black Arrow, the dragon came crashing down on the Master's barge, killing him and destroying the barge.
