Uruk-hai soldiers served as scouts in the forces of Saruman, dispatched to retrieve the One Ring on likely routes that the Fellowship would take, or to pillage and burn the villages of the Rohirrim as part of Sauron's ongoing assault.
Armor and equipment[]
Armed with broad bladed shields (some bearing a painted 'White Hand'), bows of yew and swords, these orcs wore light, leather armor and had leather helmets with no crests or brims.
